Word Unscrambler

Enter a jumble of letters and we'll surface every real word hiding inside it — from short three-letter finds to a full-length match using every letter you typed.

How to use the word unscrambler

Type the jumbled letters exactly as you have them — order doesn't matter, the unscrambler checks every possible arrangement. Results split into two groups: full-length matches, which use every letter you entered (the classic "solve the jumble" answer), and shorter words, which use some subset of your letters — handy for word-search style puzzles or just for finding smaller bonus words.

Worked example

Jumble: gnirts

Full-length match: string — the only 6-letter word that uses all six letters.

Shorter matches, same letters: grist, grits, grins, rings, sting — each one built from a subset of the jumble, which is what separates the unscrambler from the anagram solver: it doesn't need every letter used.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between this and the Anagram Solver?
They're closely related. This tool is built for classic newspaper-style jumbles and shows both full-length and shorter word matches. The Anagram Solver focuses purely on full-length rearrangements — every letter used, nothing left over.
Can I unscramble a word with repeated letters?
Yes — type the letters as many times as they appear (e.g. "eelor" for "before" jumbled with an extra E) and the tool accounts for exactly how many of each letter you've got.
