Palindrome Finder
Type a word or phrase to check if it's a palindrome — the same forwards and backwards — or browse the full list of palindromic words pulled straight from the dictionary below.
How this works
The checker strips out spaces, punctuation and capitalisation before comparing a piece of text to its own reverse — that's what lets phrases like "A man, a plan, a canal, Panama!" register as a palindrome even though the raw text isn't identical backwards. The list below is generated straight from the site's dictionary, so it only shows real, common words rather than every technically-possible letter mirror.
Frequently asked questions
- Does the checker ignore spaces and punctuation?
- Yes — spaces, punctuation and capitalisation are all ignored, so phrases like "A man a plan a canal Panama" check correctly as palindromes.
- What counts as a palindrome word in the list below?
- Any dictionary word of 3 or more letters that reads identically forwards and backwards, such as level, radar or noon. Two-letter words are excluded since almost every pair of repeated letters would qualify.
- Why isn't a word I know showing up in the list?
- The list is generated from a curated common-word dictionary, so some valid but less common palindromic words won't appear yet.
